Event "UPX TRIO | Atypical Jazz Trio" organizer: MASA studija SIA
UPX TRIO is a spontaneously formed ensemble of musicians, whose creative work is based on the classic interplay principles of a jazz trio, yet with the help of unconventional instrumentation, they seek new means of expression and sound. Instead of the traditional drum kit, you will hear a specially adapted arrangement of percussion instruments, while instead of guitar and piano, a vibraphone will sound. The timbral color palette will be tied together by the low frequencies of the double bass.
Musicians:
- Uģis Upenieks – one of the most outstanding percussionists of the new generation, has collaborated with Astro’n’out, Chris Noah, Citi Zēni, and others. He actively performs in both academic and popular music scenes.
- Ēriks Miezis – vibraphonist, composer, and arranger, known for his involvement with the ensemble Third Stream Quartet and regular collaborations with orchestra Rīga.
- Yurii Natsvlishvili – an experienced Ukrainian double bassist with over 20 years of professional experience. He has worked in jazz and popular music projects both in Ukraine and internationally, including collaborations with Kosheen.
